As their “Great Circle 2017” world tour kicks off in Brazil Midnight Oil has unveiled all the details about their imminent box set releases.
“The Vinyl Collection” (all their studio LP’s and EP’s), “The Full Tank” (all their CD’s and music videos) and “The Overflow Tank” (featuring over 14 hours of previously unreleased and rare material) will all be released on Friday May 12th in Australasia. Europe will release all three boxes on May 26th while the US & Canada will release the Tank sets on Friday May 26th with Vinyl following on Friday June 9th. Other territories should check with local retailers for local release dates.
People who have pre-ordered any of these collectable items can expect to receive their stock over coming weeks. Further pre-orders can be made here.
The full contents of The Overflow Tank can also finally be revealed – putting to end months of conjecture among hardcore Oils fans about what “unreleased and rare” material would be included. The tank will include 4 CD’s and 8 DVD’s with songs stretching from 1970’s home recordings through unreleased tracks from “10-1” and “Blue Sky Mining” to cover versions and B sides from the 1990’s. Among the DVD contents are an incendiary Oils set from 1981’s Tanelorn Festival, a full 1994 stadium concert in South Africa, an “MTV Unplugged” performance and their iconic mid-80’s gig on Sydney’s Goat Island.

The film lifts the lid on how Midnight Oil reinvented themselves with this trailblazing masterpiece.
“Blackfella/Whitefella” (Documentary) DVD
In 1986, Midnight Oil was invited to tour central Australian Aboriginal settlements with the legendary Aboriginal group Warumpi Band. They staged concerts, talked with tribal elders and saw European occupation through the eyes of its original inhabitants. This became known as the Blackfella/Whitefella tour. This tour became the creative catalyst for the writing and recording of Midnight Oil’s “Diesel And Dust” album. Blackfella/Whitefella is the documentation of those experiences featuring the music of Midnight Oil and Warumpi Band along with the videos for “The Dead Heart” and “Beds Are Burning” from “Diesel And Dust”.
